Hello, I’m Angela, a wedding and portrait photographer based in Asheville, NC.
I've been a full-time professional photographer since 2002, when I began ten years of frequent travel between the US and Thailand to take care of an international clientele. Most of my work took place in Bangkok during that time, but my US base was in Arizona. Eventually, I felt the pull of my native roots, especially of the beautiful mountains and eclectic scenes of Asheville, so in 2007 I came home to North Carolina.
My education took me from Summit School in Winston-Salem, NC (where I grew up), to the Virginia Magnet School for the Arts (of which I'm a charter alumnus). From there I went to Prescott College in Arizona, where I majored in Transformational Art and double minored in Psychology and Wilderness Leadership. I was the travel-loving backpacker girl with the SLR camera, and the extraordinary landscapes I explored out West were dreamy inspirations that helped me set my course towards professional photography.
Today, my most cherished work is documenting real moments in family portraiture and joyous weddings. It's with great pleasure I get to capture these essential exchanges between loved ones and support the memory of these momentous occasions.
I've been told that my work has an intuitive style that combines the best of both classic and editorial influences. Clients often note my unique skills of finding beauty in people and of capturing scenes in ways that sing with originality and flair. Also, my many years of experience have earned me countless praise for being a calming presence and steady guide during every wedding day I shoot.
When I'm not photographing families and weddings, I can be found reading a good book, engaging in social advocacy, cooking with my son, practicing yoga, planning my garden or prancing around West Asheville with my standard poodle/kangaroo Maisy.
I would love to photograph your family or wedding and I encourage you to give me a call.
